COSONDRA SJOSTRÖM
In 2020 she released her core motif: the monolithic rectangular silhouette, the last geometric remnant of the human form. It is the shape that must exist, and the shape that is instantly transcended. From its center erupts radiant waves of color, desire, trauma, peace, healing, memory, and uncontainable life.
Her scraping is alchemy: dense impasto built, excavated, rebuilt. Earlier marks ghost through luminous veils, buried hues resurface in healing waves, turbulent surges overflow the rectangle in sculptural abandon. All light and emotion radiate from within, reversing color-field logic: feeling is now an incandescent core that expands without limit.
The rectangle is a quantum threshold: what looks bounded is entangled, probabilistic, passionately alive, every mark in superposition, every hue quietly entangled across past, present, and forever-changing future.
This is the same force she first explored in her ongoing Creepy Romance anthologies: collaborative books that portray love as quantum entanglement persisting beyond death, an eternal energy that lives beyond death. That identical love now lives in paint.
Her paintings have drawn attention from collectors and institutions seeking works that are both visually striking and intellectually compelling, establishing her as a pioneering voice in contemporary abstract art.
